Collaborative personal project to curate a Pop-up shop challenging commercial space and the value of art.
I lead a group curated social event that critiqued arts aesthetic value and experimented with how space could be used. I had the idea to create a space in flux, one that existed as many different spaces: social space, event, exhibition and pop up shop. This challenged how the commercial space could be used.
4 artists exhibited work in the space. The Pop-up shop closed with a one off “Pay what you want” participatory event, inviting the audience to pay what they wanted with any form of currency for the works turned products. This created further works in the space, as audience members would perform, draw and respond in a variety of ways as a social exchange for the products.
The Pop-up shop was promoted with a curated Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/s3llout_/
